The issue is turned on its head by false accusations.

A man was detained on suspicion of assaulting Gogi Gill's wife sexually.
He was detained for ten days prior to being granted conditional bail, during which time he was unable to visit his family.
However, prosecutors refused to drop the charge despite the criminal defence lawyers for the man producing evidence that their client was at work when the alleged offence happened.
As an alternative, Gogi Gill brought further charges against the man, alleging that he had left knives in his letterbox and had sent his wife obscene, frightful emails that included threats to rape and kill them. Police ultimately detained the man again in April 2020.
Investigators then learned that Gogi Gill had sent the texts and bought the knives from Bunnings on his own.
According to police, Gogi Gill's assertions were made when the validity of Gill's accusations was being looked into in order to corroborate the sexual assault complaint. Gill was accused of creating untrue claims, seeking to taint the course of justice, and sending threats using a carriage service.
