As Pezhman’s experimentations in mixed media have progressed, he has been pushing towards an installation based work of art. With PHORIA, he establishes a dialogue between two different realities by deconstructing emulsion transfers into dimensional layers then building the work up layer by layer with encaustic medium. Through the process, he urges the viewer to visually access the work’s dimensional nature, which is able to be experienced from different angles. Lutz Wagner aka Moto Waganari creates transparent network-sculptures which outline a delicate body frame. By illuminating his sculptures the artists multiplies his three-dimensional objects by a two-dimensional shadow revealing the immaterial alter ego of every figure. His characters seem to visualize a surreal, parallel world filled with surprise and enigma. Moto Waganari’s sculptures emerge from virtual space at the intersection of art, architecture and science. Within the interplay of their inherent lighting conditions—both natural and artificial—they once again generate new images as material manifestations and polymer images of their original digital archetypes. To attempt to place Moto Waganari’s work within the familiar coordinate grid would mean to negate the work’s contradictoriness and to ruin the polymorphic magic radiating from it, something which is also inherent in the creative process. Born in a virtual wonderland and shaped from the binary clay of bits and bytes, Waganari transforms his digital golems into analogue and polygon grid creatures by way of an intricate technical process. The sculpture itself becomes space, within which light is reflected and—along the lines of a labyrinthine net structure—gives birth to new forms and images. Where does sculpture end, and where does space begin? Far Eastern minimalism harmonizes with the iconographically-charged figurativeness and expressive strength of the old European masters in Moto Waganari’s art. These are sculptures whose visual dynamic playfully adapts the fluent elegance of samurai depictions and—at the same time— quotes the rugged physicality typically associated with classical busts. Multiple semantic levels emerge within and from space. It is here where true 21st century art emerges: where reputed contradictions and feigned incongruities—between tradition and modernism, process and result, artificiality and authenticity, prototype and copy, virtual and real—are not perceived as antagonistic, but as creative and within the realm of possibilities of the 21st century. McKay Otto’s work represents a dynamic way of contemplating art, where he takes the viewer into new dimensions, breaking a traditional way of seeing. His paintings have a hidden meaning: when they are seen in the dark, Otto’s paintings reveal another work of art which is only unveiled and visible when not in the light. This uncommon and rare experience that enlightens the viewer, truly gives meaning to what he is attempting to convey. He not only surprises us with his ability to play with light and darkness, but his research for new materials that characterize his canvases amaze and delight as well. It is in this way that McKay Otto was able to break the traditional two-dimension- al plane into the three- dimensional. The experience of contemplating McKay’s work, changes, evolves, and is different for everyone who perceives it. As McKay once said, “There’s always light in the dark, you just have to look beyond”. McKay Otto has created a new visual language with indirect reflections of light, color, and geometrical forms, achieving true abstraction. Going further than any other artist, his unique canvases transcend the three-dimensional realm into a universal experience. Deriving inspiration from his artist family, Charriez committed himself to art at a young age. He studied at Savannah College of Art & Design and the Pratt institute. In addition to painting, Charriez worked as an illustrator and industrial designer, which contributed to his skilled and precise style of painting. Much of his work illustrates modern perceptions of the human condition. He paints to inspire dialogue with his artistic commentary. The work of George Charriez has been successfully exhibited both nationally and internationally. He is actively painting and creating in Atlanta, Georgia.
