Balancing comfort with style
London’s premier sneaker social club, The Basement, is dropping another exciting collaboration this year, following up on their city-themed collection with Nike a few years ago. This time, The Basement is working with New Balance, another brand beloved by sneakerheads in the U.K. due to their timeless style and attention to detail, as well as the brand’s premium line of Made in England sneakers. For this release, The Basement team has cooked up two special colorways of the new balance skor dam, New Balance’s latest hit shoe.

The first five versions of the new balance fresh foam 1080 running shoe were breathable, supportive, and lightweight, but the shoe didn't truly catch serious runners' attention until the 2016 debut of Fresh Foam Technology, a super cushioned underfoot support system. Professional runners, like Olympic athlete Emma Coburn, have sported the Fresh Foam 1080 as their go-to trainers ever since.

New Balance’s retro basketball oxford, otherwise known as the new balance 550 herr, has released in a flurry of in-line colorways over the past few months, and it appears NB is only getting started with this revived silhouette. The mainstay color blocking for the silhouette mixes white leather with perforated overlays and suede mudguards, leaving a little room in various parts of the shoe to add colorful accents.

Exclusives line, the two latest colorways of the new balance 327 beige are the brightest yet, ditching the previous simpler, almost collegiate styles for loud, brash color choices. The first pair begins with a bright yellow base layer for the (likely) nylon upper, reinforced by pastel green suede overlays throughout the shoe, and finished with bold orange oversized ‘N’ logos. The second pair follows a more uniform color scheme, with a dark purple base layer and very faded purple suede overlays, before also finishing off with an orange ‘N’ logo.
