Surah Al-Waqi'a

In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate

When the Inevitable Event takes place, (Quran Surah Al-Waqi'a 56:1

then no one can deny it has come. (Quran Surah Al-Waqi'a 56:2)

It will debase ˹some˺ and elevate ˹others˺. (Quran Surah Al-Waqi'a 56:3)

When the earth will be violently shaken, (Quran Surah Al-Waqi'a 56:4)

and the mountains will be crushed to pieces, (Quran 56:5)

becoming scattered ˹particles of˺ dust, (Quran 56:6)

you will ˹all˺ be ˹divided into˺ three groups: (Quran 56:7)

the people of the right, how ˹blessed˺ will they be; (Quran 56:8)

the people of the left, how ˹miserable˺ will they be; (Quran 56:9)

and the foremost ˹in faith˺ will be the foremost ˹in Paradise˺. (Quran 56:10)

They are the ones nearest ˹to Allah˺ (Quran 56:11)

in the Gardens of Bliss. (Quran 56:12)

˹They will be˺ a multitude from earlier generations (Quran 56:13)

and a few from later generations. (Quran 56:14)

˹All will be˺ on jewelled thrones, (Quran 56:15)

reclining face to face. (Quran 56:16)

They will be waited on by eternal youths (Quran 56:17)

with cups, pitchers, and a drink ˹of pure wine˺ from a flowing stream, (Quran 56:18)

that will cause them neither headache nor intoxication. (Quran 56:19)

˹They will also be served˺ any fruit they choose (Quran 56:20)

and meat from any bird they desire. (Quran 56:21)

And ˹they will have˺ maidens with gorgeous eyes, (Quran 56:22)

like pristine pearls, (Quran 56:23)

˹all˺ as a reward for what they used to do. (Quran 56:24)

There they will never hear any idle or sinful talk— (Quran 56:25)

only good and virtuous speech. (Quran 56:26)

And the people of the right—how ˹blessed˺ will they be! (Quran 56:27)

˹They will be˺ amid thornless lote trees, (Quran 56:28)

clusters of bananas, (Quran 56:29)

extended shade, (Quran 56:30)

flowing water, (Quran 56:31)

abundant fruit— (Quran 56:32)

never out of season nor forbidden— (Quran 56:33)

and elevated furnishings. (Quran 56:34)

Indeed, We will have perfectly created their mates, (Quran 56:35)

making them virgins, (Quran 56:36)

loving and of equal age, (Quran 56:37)

for the people of the right, (Quran 56:38)

˹who will be˺ a multitude from earlier generations (Quran 56:39)

and a multitude from later generations. (Quran 56:40)

And the people of the left—how ˹miserable˺ will they be! (Quran 56:41)

˹They will be˺ in scorching heat and boiling water, (Quran 56:42)

in the shade of black smoke, (Quran 56:43)

neither cool nor refreshing. (Quran 56:44)

Indeed, before this ˹torment˺ they were spoiled by luxury, (Quran 56:45)

and persisted in the worst of sin. (Quran 56:46)

They used to ask ˹mockingly˺, “When we are dead and reduced to dust and bones, will we really be resurrected? (Quran 56:47)

And our forefathers as well?” (Quran 56:48)

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Most certainly, earlier and later generations (Quran 56:49)

will surely be gathered ˹together˺ for the appointed Day. (Quran 56:50)

Then you, O misguided deniers, (Quran 56:51)

will certainly eat from ˹the fruit of˺ the trees of Zaqqûm, (Quran 56:52)

filling up ˹your˺ bellies with it. (Quran 56:53)

Then on top of that you will drink boiling water— (Quran 56:54)

and you will drink ˹it˺ like thirsty camels do.” (Quran 56:55)

This will be their accommodation on the Day of Judgment. (Quran 56:56)

It is We Who created you. Will you not then believe ˹in resurrection˺? (Quran 56:57)

Have you considered what you ejaculate? (Quran 56:58)

Is it you who create ˹a child out of˺ it, or is it We Who do so? (Quran 56:59)

We have ordained death for ˹all of˺ you, and We cannot be prevented (Quran 56:60)

from transforming and recreating you in forms unknown to you. (Quran 56:61)

You already know how you were first created. Will you not then be mindful? (Quran 56:62)

Have you considered what you sow? (Quran 56:63)

Is it you who cause it to grow, or is it We Who do so? (Quran 56:64)

If We willed, We could simply reduce this ˹harvest˺ to chaff, leaving you to lament, (Quran 56:65)

“We have truly suffered a ˹great˺ loss. (Quran 56:66)

In fact, we have been deprived ˹of our livelihood˺.” (Quran 56:67)

Have you considered the water you drink? (Quran 56:68)

Is it you who bring it down from the clouds, or is it We Who do so? (Quran 56:69)

If We willed, We could make it salty. Will you not then give thanks? (Quran 56:70)

Have you considered the fire you kindle? (Quran 56:71)

Is it you who produce its trees, or is it We Who do so? (Quran 56:72)

We have made it ˹as˺ a reminder ˹of the Hellfire˺ and a provision for the travellers. (Quran 56:73)

So glorify the Name of your Lord, the Greatest. (Quran 56:74)

So I do swear by the positions of the stars— (Quran 56:75)

and this, if only you knew, is indeed a great oath— (Quran 56:76)

that this is truly a noble Quran, (Quran 56:77)

in a well-preserved Record, (Quran 56:78)

touched by none except the purified ˹angels˺. (Quran 56:79)

˹It is˺ a revelation from the Lord of all worlds. (Quran 56:80)

How can you then take this message lightly, (Quran 56:81)

and repay ˹Allah for˺ your provisions with denial? (Quran 56:82)

Why then ˹are you helpless˺ when the soul ˹of a dying person˺ reaches ˹their˺ throat, (Quran 56:83)

while you are looking on? (Quran 56:84)

And We are nearer to such a person than you, but you cannot see. (Quran 56:85)

Now, if you are not subject to Our Will ˹as you claim˺, (Quran 56:86)

bring that soul back, if what you say is true. (Quran 56:87)

So, if the deceased is one of those brought near ˹to Us˺, (Quran 56:88)

then ˹such a person will have˺ serenity, fragrance, and a Garden of Bliss. (Quran 56:89)

And if the deceased is one of the people of the right, (Quran 56:90)

then ˹they will be told,˺ “Greetings to you from the people of the right.” (Quran 56:91)

But if such person is one of the misguided deniers, (Quran 56:92)

then their accommodation will be boiling water ˹to drink˺ (Quran 56:93)

and burning in Hellfire. (Quran 56:94)

Indeed, this is the absolute truth. (Quran 56:95)

So glorify the Name of your Lord, the Greatest. (Quran 56:96)
