Choi Jung-landers...two-run home run snaps eight-game losing streak
SSG Landers slugger Choi Jeong-jeong hit a three-run home run to snap an eight-game losing streak.
Choi started at third base against LG on Tuesday at SSG Landers Field in Incheon. He went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a home run and three RBIs.
In the first inning, Park Sung-han led off with a walk and advanced to second on Choi Ji-hoon's bunt single. He then stole third. With runners on first and third, Choi scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly to right field. He led off the fourth inning with a single to left, but the next two batters were stranded.
Trailing 1-2 in the top of the sixth, Choi led off with a single up the middle and stole second base. With runners in scoring position, Choi took a curveball from Choi Won-tae and smashed it over the center field fence for a two-run home run.
After Choi's home run, the SSG batting lineup was on fire. Heredia singled and scored on an error by the opposition with a brilliant throw to the plate. In the seventh inning, SSG pounded out five hits for a four-run big inning and an 8-2 victory. The win snapped an eight-game losing streak.
Choi was substituted out of the starting lineup against Hanwha on April 25 with a sore shoulder and was out of the lineup until LG Electronics on April 28. He returned to the lineup at third base against LG on the 29th and went hitless in four at-bats. He didn't have a 토토사이트 hit, but twice he hit fly balls that were caught in front of the fence.
Choi said after the game, “I was disappointed with my recent struggles at the plate. In the home run at-bat, I was just focused on making contact and trying to connect with Heredia, but my casual swing led to a home run,” Choi said, explaining the circumstances of the home run.
“I tried a lot of things to improve my hitting, and I had a good feeling from yesterday's game. I felt good in practice before today's game, and it showed in the game, so I'm happy about that,” he said.
SSG finally snapped an eight-game losing streak. It was their first win in 12 days. “Even though the team was on a losing streak, we didn't lose heart with the players, but rather treated each game with a new mindset that made us forget about the losing streak,” Choi said. “Especially, Coach Kang Byung-sik gave the hitters good words mentally before today's game, so we were able to play without any pressure.
Choi also said, “The coaching staff must have had a hard time mentally, but I think we had a good result today because they tried to make the players feel comfortable and not feel any pressure.”
