Lee emerges from toughest period since taking command
SSG head coach Lee Sung-yong talks about the team's victory over LG, which snapped an eight-game losing streak.
SSG won 8-2 against LG in Munhak on the 30th. Trailing 1-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the team rallied with Choi's final two-run single and later scored on an active infield play. Starter Drew Anderson, who had lost the pitching duel during the losing streak, did his job and earned the win with six innings of three-hit ball, three walks, seven strikeouts and two runs.
Choi had two hits and three RBIs, including the game-winning home run. Heredia had a multi-hit performance with three hits and Choi Ji-hoon had two hits. After Anderson, Noh Kyung-eun was joined on the mound by Byung-hyun Cho and Seung-won Moon, who both pitched well to protect the lead.
He also stole bases consistently with four stolen bases. Not only did he steal bases, but he also created runs by making sure he didn't miss any gaps in the opponent's lineup. The victory was SSG's first win in 11 days since April 19th. Their season record now stands at 26 wins, 28 losses, and one tie.
After the game, Lee said, “We were able to end our eight-game losing streak with the best effort from the players, coaches, and front office. We 토토 made some mistakes, but we were able to make up for them with our focus,” Lee said after the victory.
“Choi Jung's game-winning home run, Heredia's crucial baserunning, and the energetic play of the rookie duo of Jung Hyun-seung and Jung Jun-jae were impressive. The will to win was evident in the way they moved for one more base,” he reflected on the game.
“He pitched six strong innings, just as we wanted him to, and set the stage for the win. Congratulations on his first win in the KBO League, and I think we can expect him to be the centerpiece of our lineup today.”
Finally, Lee said, “It's important from now on. I hope we don't forget the importance of each win and each play, and I hope we play with confidence and boldness.” ”I apologized to the fans for not showing good performance until now. We will do our best to rebound from today's loss.”
SSG has announced Oh Won-seok as the starting pitcher for the upcoming game against Gochuk Kiwoom on the 31st. Kim In-beom will start for Kiwoom.
