The Chills: Most Haunted Historical Places
India is one of the most diverse countries in existence. The whole country is riddled with ancient ruins and castles that bring back the vestiges of the past. These labyrinths of time that have absorbed the memories of countless individuals sometimes remind travelers that they are old and they are sentient.
In today’s edition of travel guides, we will look at some of the most haunted historical places in India. Different paranormal organizations have recognized these historical sights as hotbeds for otherworldly activities. Without any more ado, let us dive right in and look at some of the most haunted places in India.
Shaniwarwada. Pune.
As soon as you lay your eyes on the Shaniwarwada Fort, you will be treated to an amazing example of Indian architecture with a rich historical past. But underneath the beautiful appearance of this ancient architectural marvel lies an otherworldly secret.
Built in the 17th century by the famed Bajirao I, the site played a major role in the history of Maratha Kingdon. But now, it is an empty palace that invites travelers to get lost in the maze-like hallways and corridors.
According to local legends, the supernatural activities in the palace escalate quite a bit during full moon nights. Although it is never confirmed, people claim that a prince was brutally murdered by one of his family members. As a result, he never left the palace and still makes his presence apparent to the travelers. Sources claim that they have heard loud shrieking, violent banging, footsteps, and some unusual EMF spikes in certain areas of the fort.
The Brij Raj Bhavan Palace. Kota, Rajasthan.
If you are on a traveling spree and want to cover some of the most haunted places in India, I suggest that you keep Rajasthan in your itinerary. The first entry from Rajasthan is the infamed Brij Raj Bhavan In Rajasthan. Lauded as one of the top five ‘Haunted Historical Places in India.’
Currently, this heritage site has been transformed into some kind of a heritage hotel, but it is certainly not for the faint-hearted. This hotel is apparently haunted by a ghost from 1857. Legend has it that during the peak of the revolt of 1857, a British officer named Burton, along with his sons, was killed by the revolters.
Paranormal investigators surveyed the site and concluded that maybe the ghost was a residual entity and not a sentient one. This means that the spirit of the ghost is stuck in an endless loop. However, some more sources claimed that guards reported getting slapped by an unseeing force. During the nocturnal hours of the night, Major Burton can be seen walking the long corridors of the hotel. So, if you see a British-era officer coming towards you, do not panic, just let him pass by. However, do not look at him directly.
Kuldhara. Rajasthan.
The third addition to our list is another place from the sandy states of Rajasthan. Ever since I was young, there is one place that intrigued me more than the most. The mysterious village of Kuldhara. Lauded as one of the oldest villages of the state, it is believed to be uninhabitable. In fact, in a country like India, where land to reside is becoming so scarce, this village has been sitting deserted since 1800.
If you google Kuldhara, there will be at least ten different websites giving their own version of what might have happened. But if you look closely, there is one singular point that is common in all of these stories. The story of vanishing residents. Apparently, the village of Kuldhara was once a bustling village, but one day, the residents just vanished. It was not the case of mass migration, the residents vanished. Investigators found most of the belongings that these people had, and they seemed like they were left in the middle.
The story was so popular several paranormal investigators surveyed the site. One of the most prominent investigators who surveyed the website was Gaurav Tiwari. He then claimed that he felt a strong presence of evil in the air around Kuldhara. In fact, after the investigation, Gaurav Tiwari apparently felt like he was being followed, even after he left Kuldhara. This continued till he was found dead in 2016 in his Dwarka home under mysterious circumstances.
The Final Thought.
With that, we have reached the end of our list to look at the top three most haunted historical places In India. Do tell us if you want to spend a night in all these places and see how they seem under the cover of darkness. But do not challenge the unseen, they might just end up taking the offer to follow you.
