Our body starts to age after the age of 25
The passage of time is most clearly visible on our skin.
The ageing process is unfortunately inevitable. It cannot be stopped, but it can be influenced in a real way. The most visible signs of the passage of time are directly reflected in the skin, which becomes less elastic and, as a result, covered with wrinkles. Why does this happen?
The key to this is collagen, which is widely recognised - and for good reason - as the protein of youth. It plays a key role in the body, influencing its biological age. Collagen is the protein that holds our cells together. However, as we age, its levels decrease, which in turn directly affects our bodies.
Although the body is able to rebuild collagen molecules that undergo the natural process of dying, so that the amount of collagen remains unchanged, but this only happens up to a certain point in our lives. After the age of 25, our body can no longer replace every collagen cell that is lost. As a result, as we age, we have less and less of it in us, resulting in visible signs of ageing.
Thank you creams, preparations with low efficacy
It is therefore no wonder that manufacturers are competing to develop more and more miraculous products to counteract this inevitable phenomenon On the market, we can easily find countless preparations based on collagen in the form of creams or ointments. The problem is, however, that their application has a limited and very superficial effect.
Collagen in the form of products applied to the skin is not able to penetrate deep into the skin. The effect is therefore superficial and short-lived.
What is more, this protein in the form of a cream, for example, can lead to the skin becoming too moisturised. So which solution should be chosen in this case?
If collagen is only in the form of a supplement and only of fish origin
According to the expert, the only effective way to supplement this compound is to reach for collagen in the form of a nutraceutical, i.e. a dietary supplement. This is the only form that will ensure that the organism receives the appropriate dose of collagen, which will have a positive impact on the appearance of our body and our health.
Collagen obtained from marine fish deserves special attention. Its structure is exceptionally similar to that found in the human body, which is why it is better absorbed by us.
Fish collagen close to ideal but not all of it
Interestingly, synthetic - or artificial - collagen was originally used in medicine. Over time, it began to be replaced by animal collagen - bovine and porcine. However, it turned out that due to the far-reaching differences in the structure of their DNA in relation to human collagen, the effects of the treatment were insufficient or even negligible.
Only fish collagen is biologically active, i.e. has a structure almost identical to that of human DNA (as much as 80%), and the most valuable collagen is obtained from their skins.
However, not all fish collagen guarantees adequate effectiveness. This is because its concentration contained in a single dose is important. As the representative of Collagen NCN explains, it is assumed that the optimum daily dose that should be supplied to the body is 6600mg.
Therefore, when choosing fish collagen, it is worth paying attention primarily to this value. This is the key information that should be stated on the product packaging. Supplementing collagen in smaller doses than recommended will therefore be ineffective. We will lose time and money.
The form of the supplement also matters
In addition to the concentration of the active substance per dose, the way in which it is supplemented is also important. Due to the large number of additives used to improve the taste, appearance and even smell, and also due to the processing of the product, which is then offered in the form of tablets or capsules, it is better to reach for collagen in its pure form - powdered, unadulterated and without any unnecessary additives.
Finally, it should be recalled that simply taking collagen is not enough. This protein can only be absorbed by the body when an adequate dose of vitamin C, which is responsible for the correct reconstruction of collagen fibres in the human body, is also supplied. Without it, the collagen treatment will not produce the expected results.
