Invented back during WWII, Black Creepers were brought back to normal life by the ex-British and African soldiers. For many years, many people were seen on the streets wearing Creeper Shoes. The reason behind their massive use was their comfort level that was ideal for sandy and desert areas. The thick crepe sole is the major part that provides ideal comfort during struggling walks hence, the soldiers brought them back from war even and incorporated into their lives.

Meanwhile, Edwardians (a new youth scene) that were later known as Teddy Boys adopted Creepers quickly that turned more spotlights towards these. The more Teddy Boys grew in popularity, the more exposure was given to these bad boys. 

Digesting all the fame and popularity that associated Teddy Boys with Black Creepers, the shoemakers’ quickie came up with new and distinctive ideas regarding Teddy Boy's uniform and footwear. Towards the end of the 50s and beginning of the 60s, more music and rocking groups were seen wearing Creeper Shoes including bikers, rockabillies, etc. The USA music and films were showing more wardrobe styles accompanied by Creepers which made them popular in the UK as well. 

All these groups adopting Black Creepers as the major part of their outfit shared a common bond; the love for rock and roll music. This was the time when Creeper Shoes attracted some strong exposure and attached their identity with music and music lovers. The styles used by musicians often seemed to be exchanged among themselves which ultimately gave birth to the cross-pollination of Creepers styles. 

Later in the late 60s and early 70s, Creeper Shoes were left behind due to modernization in music and fashion. For a while, they were again seen on the feet of ex-soldiers. Later in the 80s, the style changed and Black Creepers again turned towards the local markets. This time with more unique styles and modified looks. Since then, Creepers have been visiting the local and online markets now and then. Every time, with a new modern style and unique blend of upper and lower material. 

For a long time period, Creeper Shoes were available in unique styles but only in their signature black color. In the current market, there is a wide variety of colored and textures Black Creepers such as with Canvas uppers and matching crepe soles. Some of the main characters that you need to find in original Creepers include crepe rubber soles, washable Canvas upper, and lightweight. 

Creeper Shoes are meant to be light in weight and must provide a comfortable grip. This is because the were crafted out of the reason that soldiers had to walk on sandy, windy and deserted lands during the war. In such a situation, footwear plays a key role.
