Air Max 270, Alternating between the Air Max 97 and the Air Force 1 Low, Nike’s annual Puerto Rican Day release has recently been under scrutiny. Nike has been feeling the heat with all the mishaps, from flipped flags to misappropriated artwork. This year the Swoosh will look to deliver not one but two iterations of the Uptown to make amends, with this new Nike Air Force 1 Low “Puerto Rico” for 2022 joining the previously-previewed “Boricua” colorway in honoring the annual Puerto Rican Day festivities.
This Nike Air Force 1 Low comes covered in White leather while perforations land on the panels, toe box, and tongue. It dives into dominoes with inspired perforations, dubraes, and included accessories, all whilst capturing the native hues of white, red, and blue in a subtle manner. A bright blue Swoosh and heel overlay set rest in soft suede, the latter clad with PR detailing, with special graphic insoles and “Familia”-branded boxing completing the design.
The Nike Air Force 1 Shadow puts a playful twist on a classic b-ball design.Using a layered approach, doubling the branding and exaggerating the midsole, it highlights AF-1 DNA with a bold, new look.On the upper, we have a layered aesthetic where a hit of blue jumps from the sail colored leather on the toe while a dark-blue swoosh sits just behind a protruding light-blue swoosh on the laterals. Channelling some Virgil Abloh aesthetics, the mustard collar hangs open at the top while a Nike badge is stitched somewhat precariously on the heel. The design is rounded out by a classic white midsole on top of a rubber outsole.
