Sam Walton, the founder of Wal-Mart, was a man who dared to take chances and was able to take advantage of every opportunity. Born to Thomas and Nancy Walton on March 29, 1918 in Oklahoma, Sam lived on the estate until he was five years old. Feeling that the plantations were not enough to support the family, his parents turned to estate loan appraisers.

Once this work began, the Waltons left Oklahoma and began moving cities. This way of

life is usually traumatic for most children, but not for Sam. Raised in times of depression, he knew full well that hard work and frugality were ways to survive.

Sam grew up as an ambitious man. Despite not being the smartest student in his school, his determination to work hard made him an excellent student. He achieved several achievements during school and college, both in the fields of sports, lessons, and organization. Not yet

Enough to get there, he is also able to help his family finances by milking cows, delivering milk, to being a newspaper delivery man.

Three days after graduating (in 1940), he began to enter retail by working at JcPenney's in Des Moines, Iowa. He received a salary of 75 dollars a month as a management trainee. Sam gained a lot of experience at JcPenney's, but in 1942 he was forced to resign because he had to wait for his enlistment in the military for World War II.

While waiting he still had time to work near Tulsa, Oklahoma. While working and living there, he met Helen Robson who became his wife. Helen's father was a successful banker who later helped Sam to start his first shop.

His dream of opening his own shop came true in the fall of 1945. He bought a shop in Newport with the help of $20,000 from his father-in-law and $5,000 of his own savings. Sam's shop comes from the   Butler Brothers franchise leading to convenience stores. With their help, Sam's store was able to lead sales in 6 states. His strategy is to provide a very varied stock of goods, very cheap prices, easy to visit locations, and stay open longer than most other stores (especially Christmas time).

As a pioneer of the discount merchandising strategy, namely buying directly from the supplier who offered the lowest price, Sam was able to sell cheaper goods in larger quantities. This strategy of playing with high volume allows him to negotiate a cheaper purchase price for the next purchase. That way, the volume of sales and profits also increase.

In 1954, Sam re-opened a store with his brother in a store center with his brother in a shopping center in Ruskin Heights, Kansas City. He finally decided to concentrate on the retail business by opening larger stores called Walton's Family Center.

It employs managers and offers them the opportunity to become limited partners and share in the  profits if they are willing to invest. Opportunities are also open to open new stores in other places if the stores they manage are successful. These motivated managers are always trying to maximize profits and improve their managerial abilities. By 1962 Sam and his brother had 16 department stores spread across Arkansas, Misouri and Kansas.

The success of Sam's shops is because he is able to implement ideas, create a good management system, and organize the store system in such a way that it can run by itself. This is the basis of the history of walmart listing , which later became the world's largest retailer.
