Ihram is usually referred to as the article of necessary clothing that Muslim pilgrims have to wear for offering the holy rituals of Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage. However, in a religious concept, it’s rather a state of absolute physical purity. In simple words, Ihram is a necessary state which when pilgrims of Hajj and Umrah assume, certain things get prohibited (Haram) for them which remain permissible (Halal) otherwise. So, for the pilgrims arriving in the kingdom through Baitullah Travel Offers Cheap Hajj and Umrah Packages, it’s essential that they know about the forbidden acts in the state of Ihram.

Here’s a brief guide on things you shouldn’t do while you are in the state of Ihram.

Wearing Scents.

Wearing scents in any form is not allowed for the pilgrims in the state of Ihram. Whether it’s in the form of perfume, cologne, or fragrance. As far as the toiletries are concerned, there exists a mixed opinion. Yet, it’s advised to use unscented toiletries out of caution i.e., items of oral and personal hygiene.

Killing an animal.

In the state of Ihram, it’s forbidden for a pilgrim to kill/hunt an animal or even an insect. However, in case one does it in self-defense, it’s permissible to do so.

Intimacy with your Spouse.

When you assume the state of Ihram, it becomes prohibited for you to have physical intimacy with your spouse. For example, if a man is in the state of Ihram but his wife isn’t then it’s forbidden for the wife to portray inviting actions and enable her husband towards physical intimacy. The same goes for the other way around i.e., when a woman is in the state of Ihram and her husband isn’t. Otherwise, if anyone does so a penalty might get due, or even in some cases your hajj/umrah can become invalid.

Clipping of nails.

In the state of Ihram, it is prohibited for the pilgrims to cut, trim or clip fingernails and toenails. All of this must be done either before assuming the state of Ihram or after the rituals of hajj/umrah are complete and the pilgrim comes out of the state of Ihram.

Trimming or shaving Hair.

The same goes for hair i.e., it isn’t permissible for a pilgrim in the state of Ihram to shave or trim its hair. However, with the only exception that falling hair is not a forbidden act as long as it remains a natural hair fall. Otherwise, if anyone does so intentionally, a penalty is due for him/her.

Anointing the head/beard with oils.

In the state of Ihram, one isn’t allowed to anoint its head or beard with anything that is called ‘Duhn’ or oils. However, as far as applying unscented oils on your body or bald head, or face is concerned; it's permissible.

So, these are some of the forbidden things to know about in the state of Ihram.
