Nose pins and studs are an important part of the Indian tradition. And this tradition has now turned into a fashion trend. Previously, a diamond nose pin design was mainly made of yellow gold. But, now with the changing fashion norms, they are available in various materials like silver, white gold, platinum, and diamond-studded; and also come in various shapes, designs, and patterns. So, we have listed down some of the must-know things about nose pins and rings, right from buying the correct ones to maintaining them properly.

How do you select the best nose pin for yourself?

  • Choose the setting that you want

Diamond nose pin sets can be of two types, bezel, and prong. The prong setting can have 4 or 3 arms, and this setting will show off as much of the diamonds as you wish to. In the bezel setting, the stone is soldered into a dome or cone on the ring.

  • Select the style

You can buy diamond nose pins in different styles, that include L-Post, twist, bone, and pin. The bone type consists of a diamond on one end and a small ball at the opposite. The pin is also similar to bone type, but it does not have a ball at the end.

The twist comes with a slight curvature that allows the nose pin to fit securely in place, while the L-Post type of a setting has a 90-degree bent that resembles the letter L.

  • Decide on the material that you want

Determine what material you want your nose pin to be, such as white gold or yellow gold. Since the diamond will reflect the color of the metal, there is a possibility that the white gold may appear yellow. Also, do not forget to pay attention to the diamond nose pin price.

Although white gold requires more maintenance, it is very durable, and gives off a luxurious platinum look, and allows the diamond to shine. Whereas, yellow gold gives off a more classic look, is cheaper to resize, and is much easier to maintain. It can also show off the diamond in a better way even on a lower color scale.

How do you choose the perfect fit?

When you buy a diamond nose pin or ring, it should be chosen carefully so that it perfectly fits your nostril. The main thing here is the role of the diameter of the nose ring. If you have difficulties in closing the ring or feel pressure on your piercing after inserting it, then probably the diameter of your ring is too small.

All you need to do to find the perfect fit is stand in front of the mirror and place a ruler on the nose to measure the distance between your piercing hole and the edge of the nostril. Add a millimeter to this measurement, so that the ring can move freely. You can also opt for adjustable rings.

How do you put in your nose ring?

Firstly, wash your hands and sanitize the ring. Slip the opening in the hoop over your nostril and insert one of the ends of the hoop in. Make sure that the piercing goes from inside out. Then rotate the ring through your piercing, until the opening of the circle is at the bottom of your nose.

To remove your nose ring, move the ring around, until the end of the hoop comes out of the hole. Then slide it down and out of your nose. Do not apply pressure to it, because it will naturally come out as you move out.
