Bathrooms on a Dime: Ingenious Bathroom Cost-Saving Techniques
Do you wish to create a Melbourne Bathroom Renovation Packages on a limited spending plan?
The bathroom designs we provide range from the most basic and least priced to the most elaborate and most expensive.
On a tight budget, renovate the bathroom, replacing the tiled shower base. Black ceiling lighting illuminates a white-tiled bathroom with a white bathtub and bath niche.
Spa-like interiors are frequently featured in the media, from interior design program to well-known bathroom makeovers on Instagram. Regardless of your financial situation, the majority of bathroom designs are still attainable, which is excellent. You may bring the newest design trends into your home without hiring an expensive professional thanks to DIY projects and lookalike surfaces. Put your area in order the way a qualified interior designer would.
The bathroom contains a round freestanding white enamel bath and a white ladder shelf.
Since it doesn't need for any specialized equipment or materials, it ranks as one of our most economical budget bathroom ideas. It's time to organise your bathroom and get rid of everything that isn't being used as frequently as it ought to be. You might use the tub logo on the back of your trash can to guide your decision on what to toss out. This information can be used to determine how long the product should be stored after usage.
DIY salvaged wood bathroom shelves and ladders are an affordable and frugal option for folks who don't want to get rid of their possessions. Drawer separators and other inexpensive options to organise your space are available at dollar stores. Additionally, avoid painting the bathroom ceiling white.
These days, painted ceilings come in a wide variety and are a great way to bring life to a small area like a bathroom. Look no farther than our guide to painting a ceiling if you're a do-it-yourselfer eager to take on this project. If you want to get a gothic look in your home, Farrow & Ball hues are suggested. In addition to a drainpipe and handrails, a bathroom has to have good illumination.
It appears as though you are creating a brand-new bathroom from start. Paint the bathroom floor for an easy and affordable upgrade. If your bathroom has floors, painting them is a simple and elegant method to refresh the interior.
Use floor paint rather than wood paint for a more robust and non-slip coating, albeit with a more limited colour palette.
For The Bathroom Walls, Choose A Different Wall Paint.
A new coat of paint is one of the simplest and quickest ways to refresh a space.
Right now, pink is one of our favourite colour combinations, and it does wonders to enlarge a tiny space. In light of this, we advise selecting rose colour if you want to give your bathroom a modern makeover. Our favourite pink is Farrow & Ball's Sulking Room Pink because, despite its name, it has a very sophisticated feel about it.
Your Bathroom Tiles Can Be Painted
If you don't want to spend the money (and time!) on removing and replacing your bathroom tiles, think about painting them instead. With the help of this straightforward and inexpensive technique, bathroom tiling doesn't have to be expensive. Even if your bathroom design is simple, painting your tiles in a solid colour or an ombre gradient can help you create a stunning aesthetic.
To get rid of the hazardous vapours from this solvent-based solution, which needs one layer, keep it away from youngsters and make sure the space is sufficiently ventilated. Learn how to correctly clean tile grout because clean, sparkly grout leaves a lasting impression on onlookers.
    Use The Ombre Painting Technique
The easiest and least expensive method to give a boring place new life is by using current paint trends. Apply two or three contrasting tones of paint to an accent wall using our instructions to create an ombré effect (blues are a wonderful choice for a bathroom).

  • Shower Leak Repairs
Do you need a permanent solution for a leaking shower or mouldy silicone?
If a permanent solution for the leaking shower is the desired result, the shower recess will need to have the tiles and substrates replaced with a waterproofing membrane barrier installed.
The replacement of silicone is only recommended for maintenance of a properly built shower, it is not a solution for a leaking shower or a shower with an established leak.
Silicone will fail if the shower has not been properly built in accordance with AS-3740-2010 Waterproofing of Wet Domestic Areas.
    How are shower screens made?
Laminate safety glass is used on framed and semi-frameless shower screens.
The glazier cuts the glass to size to manufacture these shower screens and inserts them into the aluminium framing.
The glass inside the shower screen frames remains sharp at the edges; this is why an aluminium frame is needed around each glass perimeter.
What is that rubber shower screen seal around the glass?
The rubber seal provides cushioning to the edges of the glass within the frame.
If you see a glass section without a frame, this glass would be a different type of glass; toughened safety glass, also known as frameless glass.
Toughened glass is the type of glass used in frameless applications. The process involves cutting the glass to size and then placing it through a heating process where the glass is heated to approx 700°C followed by rapid cooling utilising cold air.
The edges on this glass are polished therefore not sharp. This process is more costly than using laminate framed glass due to the additional work required in manufacturing. These are usually custom made as there is almost no tolerance for sizing error.
All shower screens are required to comply with Australian Standards AS/NZS 1288 and 2208.
To meet this standard, Grade A safety glass must be used in all shower screens.
Laminated and toughened Grade A safety glass is designed to shatter into small blunt pieces of glass, which are unlikely to cause harm instead of large sharp pieces.

  • Does insurance cover a leaking shower
Does insurance cover a leaking shower, leaking
bathroom or cracked or broken shower base?
It will depend on your individual policy and circumstances.
In our experience, sometimes if a leak is caused by a plumbing leak in a pipe, insurance may cover this, but it will depend on the policy and individual circumstances.
Generally insurance will not cover leaking showers caused by faulty, poor or non compliant workmanship, or where waterproofing has failed.
Waterproofing will generally only fail if the shower has not been installed to comply with NCC or AS-3740-2010 requirements or if the shower has been poorly maintained.
Some clients have informed us that their insurer has covered costs associated with replacing or repairing shower bases that have cracked or broken due to accidental damage, however this would depend on the individual circumstances and your policy.
This highlights the importance of commercial plumbing perth ensuring that your shower is installed by a professional installer consisting of professional tilers, waterproofers and plumbers working in conjunction with one another to ensure that the shower complies with regulations every step of the way. You must be able to demonstrate that the shower has been installed to comply with the NCC (National Construction Code 2019 and AS-3740-2010 Waterproofing of Domestic Wet Areas.
The importance of the entire team working together to prepare the area for the next trade to allow them to carry out their work to comply is paramount.
When having subcontractors or independent tradespeople working on a single project without responsibility for the overall outcome, you can expect failures as each trade is only responsible for their own work, you absolutely
want the peace of mind of a single shower repair specialist company providing warranty for the entire project.

  • Traditional Shower Base Replacements
Do you have a cracked, damaged or unsightly shower base that you would like to replace?
Would you like to replace the wall tiling or wall lining and waterproof it at the same time?
Do you have a tiled shower base which you would like to replace with a polymarble or an acrylic shower base?
Do you have water damage to timber floors beneath your current shower base that you would like replaced?
We can replace a damaged or cracked shower base using the traditional method where we completely remove the existing shower base and and install a brand new acrylic, polymarble or SMC shower base.
We can also install a tiled shower base in place of your old polymarble or acrylic shower base.
In order to do this, the wall lining or shower recess wall tiles will need to be removed in order for us to remove the shower base as the wall lining is essentially locking the shower base into the wall cavity.
We complete the job with new waterproofing, tiling and shower screen installation so that your shower is ready for use without you needing to organise other trades.
You may not realise, but your existing polymarble, fibreglass or acrylic or “plastic” shower base is actually checked into your wall framing studs.
When originally installed, your polymarble shower base would have been installed before there was any plaster or tiles on the walls in your bathroom.
The polymarble shower base is installed hard against your timber wall stud frame, and then the plaster is installed, waterproofed and tiled, locking your shower base into position.
The only way to physically remove your existing polymarble shower base is to remove your wall tiles and plaster behind the wall tiles.
How do we replace polymarble shower base with tiled base?
To replace your existing acrylic, fibreglass or polymarble shower base with a tiled base, we must replace all plaster and wall tiles inside the shower recess after we have removed your existing shower base. This is a requirement as we must provide a compliant waterproof membrane barrier to ensure that your waterproofing is applied and compliant with AS-3740-2010 “Waterproofing of Domestic Wet Areas”.
These steps are also necessary so that we can provide you with a quality, compliant end result.
Never let any contractor tell you that they will remove only the bottom row or two to replace your shower base. If you do that, not only is your waterproofing non compliant with current waterproofing standards, but your shower is guaranteed to leak in the future.
    The Process:
    Day 1:
To begin the process to replace your polymarble/acrylic or fibreglass shower base, we begin by removing your tap-ware and plumbing fittings.
We then remove your shower screen, shower recess wall tiles and the wall lining (plaster/sheeting behind your wall tiles in your shower).
Once the wall lining has been removed, we are then able to access and remove your existing polymarble/acrylic shower base.
    Day 2:
We remove and replace any water damaged timber flooring from beneath your shower base if required, and also install new underlay to the shower base area.
The plumber will install any plumbing rough in items such as new tap-ware, shower heads and a new trap with puddle flange to the shower base.
    .
Your new acrylic or SMC shower base will be installed.
    Days 2 and 3:
We install a new wall lining to your shower recess walls.
Once we have installed new water resistant plaster or sheeting to your shower recess walls, we apply polyurethane and a waterproof membrane barrier in accordance with AS-3740-2010 “Waterproofing of Domestic Wet Areas” regulations.
This is a 2 day process as we have to leave the membrane to cure between coats and prior to tiling.
    Day 4:
Once the waterproofing has cured, we are able to lay the tiles to the shower recess walls.
    Day 5:
The day following the installation of the tiles we can return to grout the newly laid tiles.
    Day 6:
Caulking (silicone) application to shower recess
    Day 7:
Your new shower screen is installed.
We also re-fit or fit off taps and shower heads during this visit, ready for you to recommence use of the shower 24 hours later.
For this service, you would need to allow 8-10 days from start to finish as its important that adequate curing times for waterproofing, adhesives, grouts and sealants are adhered to to ensure your shower recess is completed to the highest possible quality standard.

  • Shower Rebuilds Narre Warren South
Whether you have a tub/shower combo or a walk-in shower, we can assist you with shower rebuilds in Narre Warren South and can furnish your bathroom with a new shower that is up to date.
To eliminate further water damage, a complete shower rebuild is required after significant water damage behind the tiles or through the waterproof membrane. It’s possible that water seeped through the backs of the tiles, causing them to separate from the wall. It’s especially common in older showers since the glue has hardened and is no longer malleable. If the wood in the facade has deteriorated due to a leaking shower, the walls may need to be replaced or repaired. Termites may have eaten and ruined wooden bolts in the walls in some cases, forcing their replacement.
For shower rebuilds and wall stud repairs, The Shower Man in Narre Warren South uses specially created wet area studs that are impervious to borers and termites. Re-sheeting of wet zone cement boarding will be installed as needed on the walls that require it.
Complete shower reconstruction is sometimes required, and this is the most cost-effective and long-term solution. Your downtime and inconvenience will be kept to a minimum when you hire The Shower man in Narre Warren South. Although your shower cannot be resealed, our specialists can assist you in finding a long-term and cost-effective alternative. Because we deal with outdated showers regularly in Narre Warren South, we know exactly what it takes to install new showers that will survive for many years and prevent water damage to your walls.
