Cross-country running, or XC running (abbreviated XC running ) is a form and type of racing in open-air settings. It was developed in the UK but is becoming increasingly popular, especially among schools and athletics teams. Cross-country may cause you to feel anxious just by the sound of the words.
It's Marmite. You either love or hate it, please! Even for some of the most skilled and experienced runners over track and road, the mere thought of entering a cross-country race's starting line would make it seem almost unappealing.

Many others, however, stayed away from the cross-country event, including Sebastian Coe and Haile Gebrselassie.
