What is well-optimized SEO content, why is it important and how do you go about it? What are the right methods and tools for creating great content?

1) Find the right keywords for your SEO content

We recommend choosing only one main keyword per page. A keyword can be made up of several words to form a query. It is then a "  long tail  ".

Long-tail draws less traffic than shorter keywords, but the competition is lower. In addition, the traffic will generally be qualified because the request is precise.

To put it simply: if I have a cooking blog, I will create an “easy cookies in 5 minutes” page. It's a long tail and so it's a good keyword. While “spoon”, “fork,“ bain-marie ”,“ food ”,“ blog ”are bad keywords because they are too vague.

Where can I find the right keywords?

Many tools are available free on the internet to assist you in your choice.

Übersuggest is a great tool that also works great. This tool lists for you the “Google suggests” corresponding to a query. It's a good way to build the first list, but without the associated volumes or competition.

Essential. Although the tool is primarily intended for Adwords campaigns, it is the keyword planning tool that will most of the time allow you to quickly assess the level of search queries on Google.

2) Evaluate the keyword competition

To reference your site thanks to SEO content, you have to select the right query that we will insert in the title of our page and in our content.

To assess the competition on the potential keywords we have selected, we do not recommend using the Adwords planning tool. Indeed, the competition indicated concerns only paid advertisements and not the competition on keywords intended for natural referencing.

Our suggestion:

We recommend using Google search directly by typing:

intitle: “your request”

The search will then give you all of the results that contain “your query” in their page title. Depending on the number of searches, it's up to you to assess the competition and your chances of arriving in the first position.

3) Insert your main keyword in the tags

When you have identified a long tail main keyword with a lot of searches and little competition, you should put it in several strategic places on your page. Indeed, when a search engine analyzes your page, certain elements are very important to them.

The title of your page:   The title of your page, entered in the <title> tag is essential. This is the title that will appear by default in the page tab and in search results. It should contain the keyword from the start, ideally, be less than 600 pixels wide, and describe the content of the page.

The URL of the page:  It must also contain the main keyword of the page and be readable for the Internet user (avoid http://monsite.com/lo12pokcj2365lolxcwxcw)

The title of your content (H1):  Also essential for search engines, it is the title of your content, of your article.

The meta description:  even if the search engines no longer read it, it must contain the keyword so that it appears in bold in search results and optimize the click-through rate. It must describe the content of the page to the user and make him want to know more.

Tools like SEOmofo's Snippet Optimizer can help you preview your site in search results.

4) Write your SEO optimized content: our top 5 recommendations

1.  To be effective, an SEO content strategy involves producing content on a regular basis. We invite you to check out our top 4 reasons to post content regularly to learn more.

2.  We recommend the content of at least 500 words, but ideally an article should contain more than 1500 words.

3.  Google's algorithm is now powerful enough to capture all the lexical fields of a page. You no longer have to repeat the keyword over and over again in your content, even if a keyword recurrence of around 3% is still recommended.

4. Prioritization of content is essential: use titles! Use only a single <h1> title, but divide your content into subtitles.

5. Produce quality content. Do not think of a “search engine”, keep the interest of Internet users in mind. Your content should be relevant, useful, with substance and form. Quality takes precedence over quantity.

There are of course endless recommendations for writing good SEO content. If these 5 recommendations are respected, then you will already have a good basis for progressing more sharply.

5) think about the alt tags of your images

Last suggestion: fill in the alt (or alternative) tags of your images. Indeed, search engines such as Google are today unable to “see” images, so they read this alt tag in order to reference it.

The referenced images appear of course in Google images, but also in search results, which is a significant source of traffic!
