Types of Life Cycle Assessment

Gate-to-Gate

Cradle-to-Cradle

It incorporates the idea of a circular economy, where the product is designed for reuse, recycling, or upcycling, creating a closed-loop system.

5 Phases of Product Life Cycle

Each product has a life cycle which can be divided into many stages. It is important to know about these stages while performing an LCA.

Product life cycle stages

1. Raw material extraction: This is the collection of raw materials that will be used for production.

2. Production: The manufacturing process in which the raw materials are transformed into finished goods.

3. Distribution: Delivering products to different markets

4. Consumption: How a product is consumed throughout its time in use by consumers.

5. End Of Life: End of life, how they dispose or recycle the product after it has served its purpose.
