Difference between BLS Instructor and Heartsaver Instructor
What Is the Function of a BLS Instructor?
BLS is an abbreviation for Basic Life Support. The course is intended for currently employed healthcare professionals such as clinicians, EMTs, emergency responders, and other healthcare professionals. Additionally, it is intended for those already pursuing medical school. This course teaches adults, teenagers, and babies how to perform CPR/AED on themselves and in pairs by utilising multiple breathing barrier equipment. As such, and similarly to the HeartSaver course, it provides instruction about how to operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
It is not essential for a BLS teacher to have a medical history. And they receive the most extensive instruction of any CPR mentor, allowing them to teach a variety of classes, including the HeartSaver courses discussed later.
Usually, the following prerequisites are needed to successfully complete this course:
- Current registration as a BLS Provider from the American Heart Association.
- Effective completion of the AHA's online BLS Instructor Essentials instruction.
- Attend a BLS mentor course in person.
- Be supervised when conducting the first lesson.
In addition to these prerequisites, you may need the following course materials to successfully complete the course:
- Manual for AHA BLS Provider Instructors.
- Student Manual for AHA BLS Providers.
- AHA BLS Provider Training Video
If you also wish to teach HeartSaver CPR and First Aid, you will require the HeartSaver course materials.
After successfully completing your BLS Instructor course, you can receive a qualification certificate that is valid for two years.
The estimated expense is between $300 and $500. To maintain your licence, you must either repeat the teacher class or be re-monitored when teaching. BLS for healthcare providers in Houston ensure utmost care.
