Working at Heights Training Hamilton is offered by F.A.S.T. Rescue, an accredited provider located in Hamilton, Ontario.
 
Our Hamilton-based Working at Heights Training Program adheres to the most recent Ontario regulations. This program equips workers with essential knowledge for the safe operation of equipment when working at heights.
 
Upon successful completion, participants will be able to identify fall hazards and implement the appropriate safety measures. The primary goal of the course is to ensure that workers understand their rights and responsibilities, comply with safety regulations, and competently select, inspect, and use personal fall arrest equipment such as harnesses and lanyards.

During the course, participants will cover the following topics:
Legal Requirements:
  • Overview of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Regulations
  • Understanding the roles of competent persons and workers
  • Rights and responsibilities of workers
  • Employer’s safety policies and programs
  • The Internal Responsibility System
  • Regulatory enforcement, fines, and penalties
Fall Protection Systems:
  • Recognizing and eliminating fall hazards
  • Working alone and the Hierarchy of Control Measures
  • Regulations for fall prevention
  • Workplace inspections
Fall Prevention and Protection:
  • Use of guardrails, protective covers, warning barriers, and travel restraint systems
  • Selection, inspection, and setup of fall protection equipment and anchor points
  • Emergency rescue procedures and suspension trauma
Access Equipment:
  • Safe use of ladders, scaffolds, powered elevating work platforms, and suspended access equipment
  • Workplace-specific training

Certification and Course Details:

  • Certification: Participants who complete this 8-hour training session will receive a certificate approved by the Chief Prevention Officer (CPO).
  • Materials: All necessary materials and workbooks are provided.
  • Breaks and Lunch: There will be several 10-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break. Participants should arrange their own lunch.
