Some players praised FromSoft's minimalist UI style for its ease of use and simplicity.

Elden Ring's UI is a bit different. This is something that developers should take away from the success this game's been to FromSoft since its inception. An experienced UI engineer from Blizzard Entertainment, named Valentine Powell pretty much echoed the sentiment in a brief tweet. Powell stated that features, similar to disruptive UI elements, don't need to be present in Elden Ring Runes every game because they are effective with other types of games. What Elden Ring is doing could-and can-be a learning experience for Western developers.

Bruno Dias, a designer and writer for Sunless Skies developer Failbetter Games Failbetter Games, has told MMOexp via Twitter DMs that the heated debate demonstrates that some people don't know the concept behind what FromSoft is trying to accomplish by introducing Elden Ring.

"It's quite easy to criticize Elden Ring's UX/UI, however it's a bit naive to me to simply declare that it's not good in general terms," Dias said. "It's...fine certainly livable for the majority of people who play the game. There's certainly a certain amount that you don't want to figure out why certain things happen how it is."

Dias said that unlike other open-world games Dias pointed out that, unlike other open-world games, the Elden Ring map does not always reflect your latest developments, even though it has tools that allow you to mark it up with your fingers.

The minimalist UI enhances Elden Ring's strengths as an exploration game that is open to the world. The minimalist HUD lets you to wander through the Lands Between unimpeded by objective markers or unnecessary icons. It's easy to get lost without feeling the stress of finishing this challenge of beating the boss. It's relaxing and, more specifically, revigorating since the game is based on trust that you'll discover your way, whether through the guidance of guides, intuition or any combination of the three.

"I do not believe that every single decision made by FromSoft is completely in the end, it's true that there are a few instances that Elden Ring seems to be following a particular path because of Elden Ring Items for sale a reason," Dias said.
