I've seen folks draw him as fully black on Nook Miles Ticket event, even about the offical sub-par, and that get very huffy or even agressive when you point that he's not really'black representaition' because. . I mean I will not lie, going by how he is attracted from the offical manga I certainly don't think he is just tan but like, there's a spectrum of skin colour people.

To a lesser extent I have also seen people do it with Xinyan. The personality who's very clearly meant to be the Chinese equvilant of a helpless country hick (which will be really a sterotype in China too) and who seems like Applejack.Yep, just the other week I saw some insane hot takes about just how anybody yelling in their interests/anything-not-the-current-situation throughout the whole American capitol catastrophe should be ashamed of themselves/should be unfollowed/etc. As if the entire world should stop all tweeting and play with audience to the American political play of the day. There is a true problematic expectation on twitter that everyone should both be completely conscious of every minutiae of American life and be dedicated to showing wokeness and constant awareness... even if you're not American.

Oh god, even less than a week before the George Floyd protests broke out, there was within my own town a dreadful incident in which a handicapped girl was left to perish in a horrific, tortuous way - so dreadful that even the most bland and emotionally neutral description of these events disturbed me to the rest of the day. It raised a nationwide issue to ensure other handicapped people under attention weren't being treated that way, and I as a handicapped girl myself felt extremely strongly about it and wanted to do anything I could to help out.

And George Floyd expired, in addition horrendous conditions, and that was the ONLY thing anyone was allowed to care about. My fandom spaces I turned to for unwinding from RL activism were flooded with cheap Animal Crossing Bells images of violence (much of it also against disabled individuals, but this was quite rarely acknowleged) and tweets essentially claiming that if I didn't retweet all these and phone myself horrible things I was a horrible man who would also be killing them (again, lots of disabled) people too.
