Mario Games Io: Reviews
Taking into consideration the existence of "second" franchise games on Switch, such as Tears of the Kingdom, we can see why this might not be the case. Isn't it more reasonable to delay this mario games so that Breath of the Wild can shine on the Switch? Indeed, but bear in mind that the game's announcement was made in 2019, thus it was probably meant to come much earlier in the Switch's lifespan. Another oddball, Splatoon 3 begs the question: why release it now when Splatoon 2 was out? However, I can't help but wonder if Nintendo felt the need to deliver something new to stay up with the genre's lightning-fast release schedule (remember, Call of Duty drops a new game every freaking year?). (Kirby also has a few games here, but the release cycle for that series is typically far faster than others.) I think the emphasis will be on acquiring as many properties as possible to ride the Switch's coattails, thus there won't be many additional remakes of previous games on this system.
