This gives you more time to prepare.

The landlord will take a look at both the inside and the outside of the unit to make sure you are taking good care of it and that nothing gets broken or damaged while you live there. Some of the things the landlord will check into when they do an inspection on the outside of the building includes:

# The gutters. This allows them to look at whether they are clogged up with debris and leaves. They can get someone out there to clean them for proper drainage away form the building.

# Cracks or other foundation issues. They may need to do some work on these if the condition is getting bad enough.

# The roof to see if there has been hail damage or other signs of age that show it needs to be fixed.

# The balcony, patio, or deck if you have one to check that the railings are secure and the wood is not rotted.
# The grounds to see if they are well maintained if you are responsible for handling this part.
