Young Sheldon And Big Bang Theory Reunion Sheds Light On Future Plans
The premiere of the fourth season of Young Sheldon spurred the return of the actress Mayim Bialik, who reprised her Big Bang Theory role as Sheldon’s wife in a small voiceover.
Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon are two successful shows, related to each other but stay in their respective timelines. The characters from both the shows are related to each other, but it never made it obvious. Instead, the show’s director Mark Cendrowski dropped hints and pieces of crossovers from time to time but never fully aired any episode, connecting both the timelines at the same time.
But in the season 4 premiere, Jim Parsons was united with Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler in this mega-crossover between the show’s main characters.
In the trailer, Sheldon graduates from school, the adult Sheldon, who is also the narrator in the opening scene, shares the graduation experience indicating that he is a married man now and has a kid named Leonard Cooper. The voiceover continues with Mayim Bialik, who makes a comeback as Amy Farrah Fowler in this 1-minute trailer; she interrupts Sheldon when he narrates how he wanted to name his son Leonard Nimoy Cooper, but Amy disapproved of it.
Young Sheldon and Big Bang Theory Reunion
Steve Molaro, the co-creator of Young Sheldon and Big Bang Theory, was asked about the idea to reunite Sheldon and Amy. Upon which, Molaro replied that the former idea was not to include Amy in the voiceover, but he did it anyway and rejected the former idea and finally included Amy in the trailer. Mayim Bialik also supported the idea, and the short and sweet one-liner from Amy opened new gates of hope for the Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon fan clubs.
What does the reunion signify in Young Sheldon?
The reunion vaguely suggests that Young Sheldon will grow up to be the Sheldon of the Big Bang Theory. It goes further beyond the conventional finale of Big Bang Theory, which concluded that Sheldon and Amy were married. The small voiceover meant that Sheldon and Amy have a kid who is as intelligent as Sheldon. Sheldon from Big Bang Theory is reminiscing Leonard’s graduation while comparing it to his own.
Conclusion
Young Sheldon and Big Bang Theory are two shows that exist in the same universe. Young Sheldon is more a parody and spin-off of the Big Bang Theory characters, especially Sheldon, who is an intelligent child-prodigy with an IQ of 187(same as the IQ of Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking) but lacks the fundamental skills of empathy, social life, and humor.
While Big Bang Theory wrapped up last year, fans were left with Young Sheldon as their only hope of understanding Sheldon’s multiverse. In totality, Sheldon’s story is spread across two shows, fifteen seasons(three from Young Sheldon), 279 episodes(Big Bang Theory), 68 episodes (Young Sheldon), and two characters.
