Blizzard, the developer of Diablo 4, has shared more information about the game's live service features as it approaches its launch on PS5 and PS4 in less than a month. Firstly, Blizzard has emphasized that microtransactions will only be available for cosmetic items. According to the official press release, "In addition to the hundreds of armor and weapon styles that players can already unlock in the game, the Shop provides players with even more diverse cosmetic options. There is no direct or indirect gameplay advantage offered by anything available in the Shop, only periodic cosmetic items."

In Diablo 4, players can purchase shop cosmetics that allow them to change the appearance of the armor they have acquired through gameplay. These cosmetics are designed to fit with specific class aesthetics or fantasies, meaning that certain cosmetics will only be available for particular classes. It's only possible to buy cosmetics with Platinum, the in-game currency that is purchased with real money. 

Additionally, cosmetics will regularly rotate out, and any class-specific items can be used by any character of that class linked to your Battle.net account. Purchased items are available on all platforms, provided you log in. A preview feature is also available, allowing you to see how a particular item will look on your character.

Regarding post-launch plans, Diablo 4's first season will begin in late July and include a battle pass with free reward tiers that sometimes offer gameplay benefits and paid reward tiers with cosmetics. 

The game is set to be released on June 6, but players who purchase the Deluxe or Ultimate editions can access it from June 2.
