Let me tell you something: shaving your head is not for the faint-hearted. It’s not a walk in the park, let me tell you. And I can vouch for it because after years of growing my hair long enough to wear as a ponytail and then short again, I finally decided to shave off my hair last year. Let's cut to the chase: it was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. But 5 months later, I wouldn’t change anything about that decision even if given another chance. Having shaved my head shaver groomie has been the single most liberating experience of my life so far. Here’s why...

Why I Shaved My Head

The first question that pops into everyone’s mind when they see someone shaving their head is always, “Why?” And that’s a valid question. There could be a million reasons behind this decision. For me, the primary reason behind shaving my head was to stop feeling self-conscious about my hair falling out. I have been losing my hair since I was 24. This was due to a medical condition called telogen effluvium. I started losing hair at an alarming rate, to the point where I was completely bald on one side of my head. I tried everything: prescriptions, vitamins, supplements, diet, everything. Nothing worked. At first, I loved having long hair. I loved being able to style it in a number of ways, from braids to ponytails. But as I grew older, I started to feel more and more self-conscious about how thin it was getting, how I was losing more and more of it every day, and how I was spending hours and hours at the salon getting it done. It was a vicious cycle, and I was sick of it.

The Good Things About Shaving Your Head

- Less maintenance - You don’t have to go to the salon to get your hair styled every other week. You don’t have to style it yourself every morning before leaving the house. You don’t have to worry about split ends, or oily roots, or any other hair-related problems. All you have to do is wash your head and be done with it. No more stress. - Save money - When you have long hair and you go to the salon, they will ask you how many inches you want taken off. If you say an inch, they will charge you the same amount they would charge someone who asks them to chop 4 inches off his/her hair. Shaving your head is like getting a haircut every day. You save money, and you also save time. - Looks great with beards - Beard bros, this one is for you. I know you like to rock the lumberjack look, and I know that having long hair will look weird with your beard. Shaving your head will look amazing with that lumberjack look. - Looks amazing with tattoos - If you have a lot of tattoos and you want to show them off, a shaved head is the way to go. People with long hair tend to put it all up in a bun or put it in a ponytail so that people can see their tattoos. But shaving your head is like giving your tattoos a stage to be seen by the world. – Looks good on any type of face - Whether you have a round face or a square face, short hair will look good on you. - It is a great conversation starter - People will come up to you and ask you why you shaved your best head shaver groomie  . You can either choose to ignore them or engage in a conversation. Either way, you’ll make a new friend.

The Bad Things About Shaving Your Head

- It is expensive to maintain - Unlike long hair, shaving your head comes with a high maintenance cost. You will have to stock up on razors and shaving cream. Don’t even think about using the same razor to shave your head that you use to shave your face. It will end up with bacteria and will give you bad acne and rashes. - Hair grows back thicker - Shaving your head has a bad reputation of growing back thicker and coarser. This is only true if you don’t take care of your head like you would take care of any other part of your body. - It takes time to get used to it - It’s normal to feel weird when you first shave your head. You are not used to the feeling of having no hair on your head. You are used to the feeling of having long hair and feeling it tickle your back and shoulders when the wind blows. All of that is gone when you shave your head. You will feel strange at first, but you’ll get used to it after a few weeks.

Don’t be afraid to rock the bald look

I know what you are feeling right now, but don’t be afraid to go full bald. You’ll regret it if you don’t do it. There are many actors, musicians, and models who have gone bald and they look great. People like Jason Statham, Sean Penn, and many other actors have gone bald and they look even more handsome. Bald is the new black, so don’t be afraid to go bald. Yes, it is a big change and yes, it will take time to get used to it, but you’ll love it in the end.

Conclusion

Shaving your head is a big decision. Once you go bald, you can’t go back to having long hair. You have to be sure that this is the right decision for you. If you want to go bald, then go bald. Don’t let anyone make you feel bad about the decision that you have made. Shaving your head is like undergoing a transformation. You will feel different, and people will treat you differently. It is a big decision, but it is definitely worth it.
