TDP Achievements in The Department of Women's Welfare

The TDP Government have formed the Women's Commission to solve the problems of many women who have not benefited from various laws and socio-economic programs. The TDP Government with the support of the central govt, Introduced a central scheme named Swadhar for rehabilitating women trapped in the trap of anti-social forces or in prostitution for the sake of family support, 75 per cent of the funds for this scheme is provided by the central government and 25 per cent by the state government and the main objective of this scheme is to provide shelter, food, clothing, counselling and rehabilitation to the affected women. The Central Government sanctioned Rs.61.26 lakh for the year 2003-04, while the State Government contributed Rs.20.42 lakh, under the TDP Policies for the welfare of women.
The TDP Government in collaboration with the Center has sanctioned 38 projects in Andhra Pradesh under the Indira Mahila Yojana Scheme as a Women's Comprehensive Empowerment Programme which was named Swayamsiddha was one of the major TDP Contributions for increasing self-help, power and empowerment among women in all fields. In this scheme, each project has 100 teams, and each team has 15 to 20 members. For 2002-2003, an amount of Rs.47.50 lakh has been allocated for this scheme and more than 607.24 lakhs have been proposed under this scheme for the year 2003-2004.
To eliminate the ongoing discrimination against girls, the TDP Government under the governance of Shri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu initiated the Balika samrakshana scheme, to increase the number of girls going to school, and to control child marriages, Under this scheme, a deposit of Rs.5000, along with interest is given to the girls after twenty years. To get benefited from this scheme there should be two children in the family, if both are girls then only one girl is eligible for this scheme and the age of the girl should not exceed two years and the family income should not exceed eleven thousand rupees per annum. In 2002-03 there are 65,063 beneficiaries under this scheme making it one of the Top TDP Achievements.
The TDP Government has allocated a total budget of 52703.72 lakh rupees for the year 2003-2004 while continuing all the ongoing schemes. More than 49771.20 lakh rupees have been allocated for the plan fund and 2932.52 lakh rupees for the non-plan fund. The increase in non-plan funds of 20283.87 lakh rupees and non-plan funds of 110.98 lakh rupees from 2003-04 shows the priority given by Nara Chandrababu Naidu and his TDP Government towards women's development and child welfare.
