The average annual rainfall in our state is 898 mm, but the rainfall varies from region to region. The average rainfall is 1037 mm in the coastal area, 956 mm in Telangana, and 671 mm in Rayalaseema. 8,691 trillion cubic feet (TMC) of water is available through this rainfall, of which only 9 percent i.e. 777 TMC is reaching the groundwater. 41 percent of rainwater evaporates and 41 percent is lost as runoff. The remaining 9 percent is absorbed into the soil as moisture.
