Wilson added that Blizzard is working on an updated version
The design lead also emphasized it's "simple to master, but difficult to master" gameplay, a principle of the series D2R ladder items, as well as the significance of a seamless learning curve. "In Diablo's default mode, it was actually a fairly simple game" said the lead designer.
Wilson added that Blizzard is working on an updated version of Battle.net to improve the ability to play the concept of cooperative play. "We aim to get rid of any barriers in order to allow people to engage and communicate with each other," he said.
Returning to Diablo's tried and true gameplay, Wilson said that the gameplay's elements of action were closely studied. One of the most important changes made to the gameplay in order to improve the game's gameplay was to eliminate the need for potions as the primary health mechanic.
To ensure that players are not dependent on health potion, Wilson said that defeated monsters would now drop the globes that contain health. The idea behind this is to keep players in the fray to ensure little to no downtime between fights.
Giving players the chance to go beyond simply click and charge was an important factor to members of the Diablo team, said Wilson. Aside from the monster known as the Berserker, Wilson declared that it's foolish to confront these characters at face value.
Instead, the berserker was created to be a heavy batter that could be vulnerable in case he falls. If the players would be able to track their speed, they'd be in a position to hit easily with the berserker once they fail and their weapons remain impervious to ground.
As the action was measured also the role-playing. Wilson claimed that his group has implemented changes to enhance the storyline of the game, without compromising Blizzard's "opt in" approach of giving players the choice to read the dialogue buy diablo II resurrected items. He also assured that RPG aspects will be enhanced by removing the generic aspect of random dungeons as well as adding more interactions between characters that do not play to make the world more real.
