According to Blizzard's customer support Twitter account, the outages could be caused by an issue that is affecting games' authentication servers D2R Items, which can lead to players experiencing either "failed" or "slow" login attempts.These issues with the servers started after Blizzard patched players on the Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch versions of the game on October 6.

The patch appeared to be a routine fix, that addressed issues with player profiles not being able share names to online characters that they created as well as players not being informed when the game is linked to their Xbox Live accounts. One fix made it so that players were no longer blocked from creating games in their area after joining a game in a different region.

The Twitter account of customer support for Blizzard has posted numerous updates letting players know that it is aware of the issues they're experiencing, and of the team's efforts to create solutions.

The account has repeatedly tweeted saying that "Today's registration and game problems with creation have been solved," but these maintenance efforts do not seem to address the problem.

Players have taken to both Twitter along with Reddit to vent about the difficulties they've faced when attempting playing Diablo II: Resurrected. There are some Diablo players who have created memes about the game's login issues, other players have claimed that the issues continue to plague them into "i want a refund zone."

The Blizzard Support Twitter page has frequently acknowledged players' patience, some players have got fed up of the constant problems, and have started their own hashtag, #RefundD2R.

"Damn you guys. Login problems occur on a regular basis," one person tweeted using the hashtag as another user, who was annoyed, said, "same day, same time the same channel buy diablo 2 resurrected items. This is awe-inspiring. Five days of this shit."
