Internet Explorer (IE) is a web browser which was widely used in the late 90s and early 20s. Today the number of IE users are less but still, many people rely on IE more than other web browsers. Indeed IE is a reliable web browser but using IE is very troublesome as you will get errors from time to time. The most common error is Internet Explorer stopped working. Reset your Internet Explorer

When you IS stopped working; immediately reset the Internet Explorer. You can get this kind of error due to any runtime error. Resetting the IE will fix the error. You can follow the given steps for resetting the Internet Explorer:

  1. Close the error popup
  2. Go to the Start button
  3. Navigate to Control Panel
  4. Go to Network and Internet
  5. Select Internet Option
  6. Click on Advanced Tab

Go to the Reset button and you will get a dialog box on your screen. Click on the dialog box for resetting the IE. Uncheck the Use Software rendering instead of GPU dialog box and click the Finish button. Now restart your computer and check whether your error gets fixed or not. 

 

Reset the Security Zone

Sometimes Internet Explorer stopped working due to any kind of issue on the security zone. Go to Internet Properties. Navigate to the Security Panel. Click on Reset all security settings zones. Now again open the Internet Explorer and you can continue your work. 

 

Disable the System Services

Your Internet Explorer can also stop working due to system services. These services run on the background on your screen. But sometimes these services use high RAM space and bandwidth which can cause an error on the browser. Here are the steps for disabling system services:

  1. Close the Internet Explorer
  2. Close the error wizard
  3.  Go to the Start button
  4. Click on Run
  5. Type MSConfig on the run box
  6. Press the Enter button
  7. Select Selective Startup
  8. Now uncheck Load Startup Items
  9. Select Services Tab
  10. Now check the Hide all Microsoft services option
  11. Click on Disable All button
  12. Hit the OK button
  13. Tap the Restart Now option 
  14. After restarting the PC; go to Start button
  15. Click on Run option
  16. Type MSConfig on the run tab
  17. Press the Enter button
  18. Go to Services Tab
  19. Now check all Microsoft services option
  20. Enable the necessary services
  21. Hit the OK button

Now again restart your PC and open the Internet Explorer.

 

Remove conflicting program

If your Internet Explorer is stopped working while running a certain program that means the program is conflicting with your Internet Explorer. Conflicting issues mostly appear when you have any third-party program installed on the device. You have to uninstall the program for removing the conflict. Click on Programs and Features. Now select the program which is conflicting with your Internet Explorer. Right-click and choose the Uninstall button. Now follow mail error 550 the on-screen commands for uninstalling the program. Restart your computer and run Internet Explorer. If your Internet Explorer is still showing the errors then you should ask for the technical help.

 

Disable all the unwanted Add-ons

Internet Explorer provides various add-ons to make your task easy. After using the add-ons you can perform your work with good speed. But sometimes add-ons can also create issues. Open your Internet Explorer and go to the Tools button. Now disable all the unwanted Add-ons from your Internet Explorer. Now restart your Internet Explorer and check whether your error gets fixed or not.
