How To Choose a Car Headlight

Bright lights, big decisions! Headlights are considered "normal wear" items, meaning they are used so frequently that they are expected to wear out and be replaced. This presents you with a challenge: when it comes time to replace the car headlight, which would you choose?
Halogen headlights. You'll find that halogen lights are standard on most vehicles today. These incandescent bulbs contain a mixture of argon and nitrogen trapped inside the bulb with a tungsten filament. When electricity passes through the filament, it heats up and emits light. These headlights can withstand high temperatures.
LED headlights. LEDs, once only found in high-end cars, are becoming more popular, but they're not standard equipment yet. LED headlights are basically a semiconductor that emits light when electricity is passed through them. They emit brighter light than halogen headlights but use less electricity.
HID headlights. Also known as xenon high-intensity discharge headlights, these are commonly used in luxury vehicles, and many drivers prefer the look of these lights. These lamps function like the bulbs of a neon sign; an arc is created between two electrodes, causing the xenon gas to react. They provide the brightest light of any off-the-shelf headlight available today. In fact, they are considered too bright for some jurisdictions (each state has its own laws governing headlights).
