"This is WoTLK Gold edition. We're looking at the campaign itself, like The Culling in particular," Brian Sousa, Art Lead on Classic Games at Blizzard told P2Pah. "We have completely changed the map's layout and made it look and feel like Stratholme from World of Warcraft because people have been in Stratholme, people know the way to Stratholme and the original did not have this. It had a different look and feel. It had Greek columns, and it had like strange statues, and a river, and the animals, and other things one wouldn't even recognize if they came playing World of Warcraft playing this game.

"That was one of the things. We're like, 'Well, this ought to appear like Stratholme Then it got a complete overhaul in line with this. When we continue to play through the rest of the campaign, there's bound to be many instances where we do pull on World of Warcraft for influence since they've got the history, they've grounded all these characters, these locations, and have put lots of backstory into everything. We have an enormous collection of books to choose from."

The Reforged edition includes new animations and characters and maps that have been remastered, as well as an upgraded UI, and 4K support. A "Spoils of War" edition also offers additional bonuses from Blizzard's other games, including World of Warcraft , World of Warcraft, and Heroes of the Storm.

Alongside World of Warcraft: Reforged, Blizzard took the opportunity to use BlizzCon to announce a launch date for WoW Classic. Like Reforged, it takes the classic game in Blizzard's library and then remasters it to appeal to gamers of today, but this time it's returning the clock to lots of the modern touches that have been added to WoW in the past decade, allowing players to play the game the way it originally existed buy WoTLK Gold. The release is scheduled for the summer of 2019, which will mark 15 years since WoW was first released.
