This is the latest of our 30 team previews, which will run through March 30. The Los Angeles Dodgers didnt do much in the offseason. They didnt need to.In the first two seasons of ownership by the Guggenheim Baseball Management Group, the Dodgers shook up the National League West with a free-spending approach that not only saw them addre s short-term i sues with free-agent signings and trades Malcolm Smith Jersey , but also look at the future with major investments into scouting and player development. So the past offseason was a good time to step back and let the parts settle into place.Juan Uribe, Adrian Gonzalez (AP Photo)MLB 2014: | The Dodgers biggest move was the signing of Cuban defector Alexander Guerrero, 27, to a four-year, $28 million deal back in October. Then came the signing of starting pitcher Dan Haren to fill out the rotation.Solid moves, but nothing compared with the signing of Zack Greinke or trades that brought in the likes of Hanley Ramirez, Adrian Gonzalez and company the two previous seasons. During that spending spree, the Dodgers doubled their payroll, reaching a record-setting $243 million in 2013. As a result, the franchise paid a luxury tax ($11.4 million) for the first time. But then the holes arent as gaping today as they were when the new owners took over the franchise. The rebuilding of the Dodgers has been so significant that even after Los Angeles advanced to the NLCS only to lose in six games to St. Louis last Octoberthe talk wasnt about a revival of the franchise, but rather a debate on whether manager Don Mattingly would return. And even the announcement that Mattingly was coming back got tempered by his disappointment over not being given more than a one-year commitment. That, however, is history. Mattingly is now looking forward to the future.Nothing is going to keep me from being happy (in 2014), he said during the Winter Meetings. And there is reason for Mattingly to be happy: He has a veteran lineup that knows how to win. The Dodgers proved that last season. On June 20, the Dodgers were at the bottom of the NL West standings, 12 games below .500, 9.5 games out of first. By July 22, they were atop the division, and never looked back. They were the first of the six division champions to clinch in September.THE LINEMAKERS: Their MVP candidate of 2012, Matt Kemp, played in only 73 games, had only 290 at-bats and underwent shoulder surgery. They had only three players appear in 130 games. Expected rotation regular Josh Beckett also underwent shoulder surgery after only eight starts that produced an 0-5 record and 5.19 ERA.Its not tennis, Mike McGlinchey Jersey shortstop Ramirez says. Its not like that. Its not only one guy. Its 25 guys. And thats why the Dodgers only did touch-up work in the offseason. The roster is deep enough that the only change in the lineup will come at second base, where Dee Gordon is step in for Mark Ellis, at least until Guerrero is deemed ready.Incredibly, the outfield has so much depth Jason Verrett Jersey that Andre Ethier has a chance of being the odd-man out of the starting lineup even though he has four years and $69 million remaining on his contract. With the arrival of Cuban defector Yasiel Puig last June, the eventual return of Kemp and last summers resurgence of Carl Crawford, the Dodgers suddenly have a pleasant problem of quality depth.Puig grabbed the headlines last season with his hair-on-fire style of play that was credited with giving the Dodgers an emotional boost that fueled the surge from last place. However, dont overlook the impact Ramirez had when he was healthy and able to return to the lineup. He played in only 86 games but hit .345 and was second on the team in home runs (20) and RBIs (57). Ramirez slipped into the No. 3 spot of a lineup that featured the lefthanded bats of Crawford and Gonzalez hitting first and fourth, respectively.Hanley Ramirez (AP Photo)MLB 2014: | The foundation for the Dodgers, however, is a pitching staff in which the rotation is anchored by the dominating left-right combo of southpaw Clayton Kershaw, the NL Cy Young winner in 2011 and 2013, and righty Greinke, who went 12-2 with a 2.03 ERA after June 20 last season. The bullpen evolved as the season went along into a dominant late-inning answer to any questions the Dodgers had to answer. Kenley Jansen took over the closer role and Brandon League slipped back into a setup situation with lefty Paco Rodriguez, the Dodgers first-round draft choice in 2012 whose 76 appearances ranked second on the team. And then came the Aug. 22 arrival of former Giants closer Brian Wilson. Released by San Francisco after a second Tommy John surgery in 2012, Wilson was determined to make a comeback, and after auditioning for several teams he finally signed with the Dodgers.Unscored on in 17 of 18 regular-season appearances, Wilson added six shutout innings in six playoff outings. The Dodgers were so impre sed with his season-ending audition that Wilson re-signed with Los Angeles for one year and $10 million.Buy your now!Proected lineup C: A.J. If everybody is healthy, Andre Ethier projects to be a fourth outfielder with a $15.5 million salary. Ownership is going into its third season having lived up to the advance billing of spending what it takes to Jerick McKinnon Jersey get a quick-fix at the big-league level. Hanley Ramirez is the guy who makes this team go, which was evident by the turnaround the Dodgers underwent in June last season when Ramirez returned from the disabled list. Theres not a better 1-2 rotation than lefty Clayton Kershaw and righthander Zack Greinke. Dan Haren isnt the Dan Haren of old, but he wasnt signed with that in mind. He slips into the fifth slot in the rotation. There is depth in the bullpen, too, with the return of Brian Wilson as protection for closer Kenley Jansen.Scout's viewA scout's take on SP Clayton Kershaw: Kershaw has learned to minimize his pitches, which can save him 10 to 15 pitches a start, allowing him to work deeper into games and le sen the demand on his arm. A key is he is more confident with his stuff, which has led to better command in the strike zone. His curveball has become a lockdown pitch and he isnt afraid to throw it. The durability shows. He was even better in the second half last year, compiling a 1.59 ERA compared to 1.98 before the All-Star break. And he doesnt care what side the hitter swings from (.202 average for righthanded h
