Walking out to the bullpen in Philadelphia before the start of Game 1 of the 2010 NLDS, I never expected that we would make history.I expected to win. We knew that it was going to be a tough series. Any time you are up against Roy Halladay, Cole Hamels and Roy Oswalt in a best-of-five series, the odds are probably not Peyton Barber Jersey with you.MORE: | | From the first pitch of the night, I have never played in a louder setting. I dont think the Philadelphia fans sat down the entire night. The sight of all those white towels waving is burned in my mind. Philadelphia is a fun place to play as a visiting player. The bullpens are situated together in right centerfield, with the visitors pen just below the concourse. On more than one occasion, a cheesesteak was known to accidentally fall over the railing. It goes without saying, but you always hope to score the first run of the game, especially on the road. It helps take the pre sure Richie Incognito Jersey of your starting pitcher. The reverse is true at home.A quick 1-2-3 inning gets you in the dugout confident and ready to hit. It was a quick top half for Halladay, and before we knew it, we were down 1-0 at the end of the first.I would normally have one eye on the game and one eye looking around at the buzz and excitement of the fans during the first inning or two. The playoffs had such a different feel, though. Our eyes were glued to the game. Every pitch, every play felt important.By the end of the second inning, it was apparent that Halladay had something special working. You cant see minute details from the pen, but you have a pretty good idea of how well a pitcher is throwing from the reaction of the hitters and how much the catcher moves his glove. From my perspective, 400 feet away, Las Vegas Raiders Sleepwear Underwear Halladay looked filthy. Ruiz wasnt moving his glove. Roys sinker and off-speed pitches seemed to have extra life on them. By the fifth inning, we were down 4-0 and Halladay had a perfect game going. It was a relief when Jay Bruce walked, but we had yet to get a hit. At this point of the game, I had gone into my usual routine of stretching and getting ready to potentially pitch.I entered the game in the seventh inning with two outs to face Chase Utley. My heart was beating out of my chest. The mix of nerves and adrenaline was intense. All I wanted to do was throw strike one.Ball one.Next pitch Utley hit a grounder back to me that I never really saw. Somehow it ended up in my glove (I claim great fielding ability, but I had more of a frying pan for a mitt). I ran the ball over toward first and flipped it to Joey Votto for the third out. Ill never forget what happened after I finished the eighth. Slightly embarra sing for me to admit, but I got lost in the game Josh Jacobs Hoodies Sweatshirts and forgot that Halladay had a no-hitter going. As I walked off the field, the stadium erupted. I remember thinking, Whats going on? Why am I getting a standing ovation? Then I started hearing Roy, Roy, Roy . Thats when I remembered what was going on. Sitting in the dugout as Roy Halladay wrapped up the first postseason no-hitter in the 50-plus years since Larsens perfect game was awful. There are no words to describe the stunned silence as we walked into the clubhouse. Few words were said as we ate dinner, showered and got on the bus back to the hotel. It felt more like a case of denial, like it must have been a dream. No way that had happened. While it has only been four years since the game, in a strange way I am proud Richard Seymour Jersey to have been a part of a piece of baseball history. Only two games have ended in the playoffs with a team being no hit. Maybe 100 players plus coaches have experienced it?Its pretty cool to sit here as I write this, knowing that I pitched in the game. The tickets from my family in attendance are sitting in my office. Not a highlight I would ever had wanted in my career, but Ill take it.
