Have you recently taken on a new SEO client? Or maybe you were appointed to manage the SEO of your company's website? You need to do a backlink test. The reason for this is simple: It lets you check that the site is in good condition before you start working on it. That means making sure that no spam backlinks can block future SEO efforts or worse, resulting in Google fines. So mentioned below are steps to review the full backlink report.

  1. Start with a web page (not the whole domain)

While it is possible to analyze and evaluate backlinks across your entire site at once, this is not something we recommend. Why? Because it is challenging to access any information that works. You can see that some people are linking to our homepage, while others are linking to a particular blog post. Some are linked to an anchor text with a name, while others do not. This does not tell us much. We need to do things on page by page.  Therefore, go to the Best in the report link and sort by column heading (RD). You will then see which pages on your site are linked from the most targeted domains. You can learn a lot from these pages. Select a page, paste it into Site Explorer and navigate to the Backlinks report. To get started, filter "nofollow" links. Contact us for best link building audit services.

Alternatively, you can start with a page that has attracted a lot of backlinks in the last 30 days — or so — in the past. Use the best growth report with links to find these pages.

  1. Sort by traffic (optional)

By default, the background links will be sorted by URL Rate (UR) which tells you what the so-called “thunder link” (or power) link is.

But we like to filter by organic traffic from top to bottom. Why? Because this way you can see which backlinks are probably sending the most traffic to your website. These are rumored to be the "best" backlinks by individuals in the SEO community.

  1. Look for similar items between backlinks

This is the real crux of the backlink audit testing process.

When you can see the similarities between your "strong" links, you begin to understand why such people are linking to you. If you can understand why they link to you, well, finding new opportunities (you want links in it) is easy to see.

So how do you do this? This is where things get a little more complicated, as there is a lot of variation in this process. However, the basics are always the same: look at the anchor text, site type (use our "platform" filter for this), the surrounding link text, etc.

Conclusion

Backlink testing can be difficult, especially if you start posting mountains of data from a plethora of tools. Hopefully, however, this article shows that with just one tool and a limited amount of time, it is possible to do a decent research that will lead to important insights. You can usually learn a lot by doing this, such as what strategies they use and how to attract backlinks.
