Blizzard Entertainment announced in an announcement in a news release on Friday Diablo 2: Resurrected has exceeded 5 million players paying when the game first launched on Sep. 23rd, 2021. As Diablo 2: Resurrected first launched, the game faced multiple issues with server connections and servers which Blizzard Entertainment had been working to address over the last couple of months.

Blizzard last week released Patch 2.4, which contained multiple balance fixes to make different build types more viable. The Ladder season of Diablo 2: Resurrected, that will feature competitive play, is launching on April 28, 2022. D2R Ladder Items: Resurrected was co-developed by Blizzard Entertainment as well as the now-defunct Vicarious Visions.
