Blizzard Entertainment has announced the new patch for World of Warcraft Classic TBC called Eternity's End. This patch marks the first big story update on the title since patch 9.1 which was released on June 29 2022. Earlier this month the developer released patch 9.1.5 it was a small update, mainly featuring quality of life improvements. Also, it brought back beloved features, like the Mage Tower challenges. Releases of new content for the game have been slowed down over the past several months due to the impending Activision Blizzard lawsuit and subsequent results. With the announcement of the new patch, Blizzard is likely hoping to rekindle interest in World of Warcraft, which faces stiff competition from established MMORPGs such as Final Fantasy XIV.

WoW's most recent story update, Chains of Domination, ended with a twist when those who fought for Azeroth could not defeat one of the main antagonists of the expansion, The Jailer. The Jailer had won the battle The Jailer walked through a mysterious portal at the close of the final fight, leaving Sylvanas Windrunner at the mercy of the Azeroth champions. Zereth Mortis is an ethereal place created by the progenitor race that shaped the cosmos to use as a workshop. It is where players will meet an ancient race of automata serving as the protectors of this universe, as well as an ancient group of familiar Brokers. The dungeon raid Sepulcher to The First Ones will also be part of the update. The players will face on the side of the corrupt prince Anduin Wrynn, as well as The Jailer himself. Many speculate that this could bring the story of the expansion to the end.
