Gir National Park, located in the north-western Indian state of Gujarat, is the sole habitat of Asiatic lions in the world, except for the jungles of the African continent. According to the latest tweet done by Prasar Bharati News Services, Gir National Park would be the only national forest hosting the Asiatic lion cubs across the globe. Asiatic lion is one of the seven subspecies of lions found worldwide. The Asiatic lion, also called the "Persian Lion", has been declared an endangered species by IUCN due to its small population. Geologists say the lion species had migrated from the lands of Persia and Baluchistan once to the Indian subcontinent.
