Google's Gmail service is a free email service. Gmail functions similarly to any other email service in that it allows you to send and receive emails, prevent spam, build an address book, and conduct other basic email functions. However, it has several additional features that contribute to its popularity as one of the most widely used online email services.
Features of gmail
Gmail has a number of features that can help you get the most out of your email, such as:
Filtering for spam. Junk email is referred to as "spam." To keep spam out of your inbox, Gmail employs innovative technologies. The majority of spam is automatically routed to a separate spam folder, where it will be removed after 30 days.
View from a Conversation When you exchange emails with another person (or group of people), usually about a certain topic or event, you're having an email conversation.
Gmail organizes your inbox by default by grouping these emails together.
There's a built-in chat feature as well. If your computer has a microphone and/or webcam, instead of sending an email, you can send an instant message or use the voice and video chat option.
Phone number. This tool is similar to voice chat, but it allows you to call any phone in the globe by dialing an actual phone number. Making a call to any location in the United States or Canada is free, while calling to other countries is reasonably priced.
Learn how to use Gmail.
You'll primarily use the primary Gmail interface when working with Gmail. This window displays your inbox and provides access to your contacts, mail settings, and other features. You'll also be able to access other Google services from the top of the Gmail window, such as YouTube and Calendar.
Using your account to log in
You'll be immediately signed in when you initially create your account. You'll need to sign in and out of your account most of the time. When using a shared computer (such as at a library or office), signing out is especially crucial because it stops others from viewing your emails.
To register, please follow these steps:
Go to www.gmail.com and type in your username and password.
2. Click Next after entering your user name (your email address) and password.
To leave, follow these instructions:
Locate the circle with your first initial in the top-right corner of the page (it will show the image instead if you've previously selected an avatar image). To exit, select Sign out from the circle.
Importing emails and contacts is a time-consuming process.
It would be a lot of work to manually re-enter all of this information if you already have a contact list from another email address. You can import your contacts and messages from another email account into Gmail.
Yahoo!, Hotmail, and AOL are just a few of the email services available.
Other accounts can be added by following these steps:
1. Select Settings from the gear icon in the page's top-right corner.
2. Select Add a mail account from the Accounts menu. Then, to import your email, simply follow the on-screen directions.
