Despite this, some countries within the EU including Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Spain, have imposed National level laws to allow the marketing of products with the term ‘Probiotics’ as long as they meet specific food labelling requirements. With member states choosing to implement legislation that supports the sale of probiotics, it is likely the EU has this on their ‘harmonisation’ agenda.
