Recruitment Means Hiring

The recruitment consultant is responsible for end-to-end onboarding or hiring tasks. Recruitment is the process of figuring out suitable applicants, screening and selecting the best-fit candidates for job openings in companies. These companies can be SMEs or large scale enterprises.

Before pandemic, this process involved physical presence in most of the hiring cases. The outbreak of COVID-19 has pressed recruitment consultants to shift to digital platforms. It is simply required to regulate their tasks through the internet.

Some big firms hire their in-house team for conducting interviews and onboarding the best ones. But, the most economical choice is outsourcing. Some professional recruiters run the services of external recruitment agencies. These agencies work for both, workers and job seekers.

The most challenging task is to determine what to look for in a recruitment agency. Here, the job consultants can help you out.

Here is how recruitment consultants work in 2021

  • Carry Out Recruitment Process

The digital technologies are now in every field. There are increasingly accelerating the placement business to heights. Discovering eligible candidates, filtering the good-fits ones, interviewing and following them up are now easy-going tasks. Moreover, all of these tasks are wrapped in a quick turnaround time. Thanks a bunch to digital devices, software and applications for saving precious time & money!

At the backstage, the fundamental steps of this process are unchanged. The way of carrying them out differs, but the inclusive processes are still going on. The specialized professionals make it happen in a short period of time using applications, software and telecommunication devices.

  • Role Defining

It’s all about filling up vacancies. For it, smart recruiters identify the job role. It helps them in determining the type of candidate the company requires.

By coordinating and communicating with the company, they prepare a detailed job description. They specify the role, covering detailed role responsibilities, objectives, required skills and qualifications. Some candidates want to identify the department the role fall under, the hierarchy of command, the salary package and inclusive perks or benefits on that job offer. So, they collect all of these details from the company.

The aim of this work is to draw the start-to-finish information on job requirements and find out the best ways to attract relevant applicants.

  • Advertising

A job advert is one of the best ways to attract the good-fit applicants for the requisite job role. In 2021, there are multiple channels including company websites, social media, backlinked websites (of external agencies), job centres and local & national publications. These all let a recruiter connect to the candidates via paid and unpaid ad campaigns.

Eligible candidates find them on social media and other job-based websites, where they apply. This is how these recruiters prepare a database and line up candidates for interviews.

  • Screening Candidates

Once there are sufficient applications, the screening begins. This is to identify the most suitable ones from the pool of candidates. The successful applicants are aligned for a face-to-face round.

For screening, most of the recruiters follow a standard process. It is to filter applications of the most relevant skills, qualifications and experience. This task is digitally enabled by integrating applicant tracking systems. The software does the entire filtering as per fed criteria in the database.

Interview and Selection

The one-o-one round vary for every company. It also varies according to different roles. There may have many rounds, including video interview or telephonic interviews, additional online assessments and in-person group, panel or interviews.

Some employers may also request for sharing a few samples of their tasks. They may ask to complete specific tasks as a formal presentation to show that they are deserving candidates.

It makes selection like a piece of cake. The most eligible ones are shortlisted on these samples. If, for any reasons, they refuse the job offer, their information is stored in the database. It helps in meeting prospective hiring requirements.

Drafting a Job Offer

Once the list of successful candidates is there, a letter is prepared. It is called an offer letter. It shows start date, salary and additional contractual obligations between an employer and employees.

Before it, the negotiation may also take place. It is for the salary package. The recruitment consultants may act an intermediary here. They may negotiate terms and conditions on behalf of the candidate or the company.

Once the terms are agreed, the letter is sent to candidates for signing it. This is how the contract of employment starts off.

Paid Service

There are some exceptions wherein some in-house recruiters and executive search agencies work solely for the employer.

Certainly, the services of a recruiter are always free for the candidates. The hiring organisation needs to pay fees. It may be vary depending on the terms of recruiting employees.
