Animal Crossing (どうぶつの 森, Dōbutsu No Mori) is a series of life simulation video games developed by Nintendo Ead in which the player moves into a village inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. From the first episode, Animal Crossing, released in Japan in 2001 on Nintendo 64, then on Gamecube in America and Europe between 2002 and 2004, until the last, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, released on Switch in 2020, five games do part of the series, plus several derivative games.

The series is noticeable for its Sandbox gaming system (without specific objective and using the curiosity and creativity of the player) and for its extensive use of the clock and the console calendar that simulate a course running Real, which modifies the content of the game according to the time, the day of the week and the date to which the player plays.

The series is both a critical and commercial success, the first four episodes accumulate 23.71 million copies sold around the world ,,. Animal Crossing: New Horizons, meanwhile, reached 31.18 million games sold on April 8, 2021.

That Nintendo 64 Games should become part of the Nintendo Switch online service, many fans had long been wished. And Nintendo makes this desire from the end of October, because among others hiking Super Mario 64, Zelda: Ocarina of Time or Lylat Wars in the service.

However, the extra: costs the N64 games are part of the so-called expansion pass that adds some Mega Drive Classics as well as the coming Animal Crossing-DLC Happy Home Paradise next to selected titles of the 64-bit era. Only those who buys this pass together with the subscription has access to the N64 games.

Disappointment with many fans

Many fans have driven this on the barricades because their expectation that the games would be in the normal subscription were not met. Instead, some have the feeling of having to pay for unused features (such as the DLC or the Mega Drive Games).

Important NOTE: The expansion pass is only available together with the Nintendo Switch online subscription, the price is just under 40 euros for individual membership or around 70 for family membership. A normal switch online subscription is still lockable for the price of 20 euros, so it is not a price increase of Nintendo, but an option to additional content that must be paid accordingly.
